It's maybe 45 minutes from Times Square on the subway and then a short walk. Dumpy neighborhood but all of it a wonderful New York experience. They'll call you a cab to get back to Manhattan--$15-$20? The restaurant is no-nonsense--very plain basic wooden tables and chairs, bare floors. Do have the bacon appetizer and do put their special sauce on evertything. Very good unusual steaks and sides served on sizzling platters. All Brooklyn waiters, some stepped right off a '40s movie set. Good draft beer, excellent food. Interesting atmosphere. Pricey but well worth the trip out there.
